'Consistency is mother of learning' says Dr. Ashwini Raut, an Audilogist & Speech Therapist

Dr Ashwini Raut who is not only a speech therapist but also a practitioner of audiology she owns 9 clinics in Mumbai and Goa. She is director of Atharva speech and hearing care.Audiology is something related to hearing and also conducting various tests providing the appropriate aid to the person.Dr Raut shares the fact to identify the need for speech therapy in children, she says every child approximately speaks 10 meaningful words by his first birthday. Not happening so indicates the child is delayed in speech then parents should diagnose it and access treatment early so that future difficulties can be avoided.

Treatment for speech related problems is speech therapy. This Therapy is an amalgamation of routine speech therapy , brain gym and NDT (neurodevelopmental therapy). Brain gym is the set of 26 exercises which helps in brain impulse stimulations.

Dr Raut says along with the therapies parent's support to the child is must. Therapy lasts 45-60 mins, once or twice a week depending on the case but Speaking needs practice, thus To bring these therapies in effect, practice is needed so that effective breathing, oral & brain cooperation is developed as early as possible in the child.

Home Program is provided where parents have to ensure that it is run through by a child at home.

Parents are prone to make these mistakes which can hinder the child's growth. These suggestions can do wonders if followed:

1.     Don't take away your child's voice by being their voice…

Parents let them speak on their own may be a bit slower but let them try.

2.     Parents tend to stressify the child's improvement process by overburdening them with exercises, it  can make the case even worse so you need to josle on to make the practice joyful.

3.     Parents concerned about their expectation mark tend to weaken a child's self-esteem by putting them into the interaction with strangers or anonymous to the child.

Parents must make sure that their child should be comfortable in situations which can raise a child's graph.

             Major Measures At Household Level!

Accepting the situation is a primary thing as an initiative.

When your child turns breathless and starts to stutter, make them stop , let them breathe and ask them to start their speech again.

This makes them conscious of how they are speaking. Wait and Restart , Works impressively!

Dr Raut emphasizes more on a continuous go through of exercises a child must be encouraged by the parents on a daily basis as there are no external tools needed, results can be bought at home with basic tools available.

'Consistency is mother of learning'

Child's progress is in parents' hands as they are the one who can mould their kids through training.
